Clinical Overview
Janu Basti is a specialized localized treatment focusing on joint health. In Sanskrit, Janu means knee and Basti means retention. A circular boundary made from organic black gram flour paste is built around the knee joint to hold warm, customized herbal oils in place.
Procedure & Guidelines
1. Black gram dough is prepared and formed into a ring shape around the affected knee, sealed tightly to prevent leakage.
2. Lukewarm herbal oil (like Dhanwantaram oil) is gently pooled into the compartment.
3. The temperature of the oil is maintained by periodically replacing cooled oil with warm oil for 30 minutes.
4. The dough is removed, followed by a gentle local massage of the joint.
