Clinical Overview

Udvartana is a specialized stimulating lymphatic massage where dry herbal powders (Churna) are vigorously rubbed over the body in an upward direction (opposite to the hair follicles). This exfoliating scrub stimulates circulation, breaks down subcutaneous fat, and purifies the skin.

Procedure & Guidelines

1. The therapist prepares a dry or slightly warm paste of customized herbal powders (such as Triphala or chickpea flour mixed with herbs).

2. The paste is massaged over the entire body using upward, rhythmic strokes.

3. Emphasis is given to areas with fatty deposits.

4. Followed by a warm shower or herbal steam bath to rinse off toxins.
